The new Knitty is out!

And these are my favourites from the new Winter Knitty:

How beautiful is this shawl called Fleece?! During the Big Knitting Frenzy (ca. 2004-2006) I knitted up a lot of lace, and then I kind of stopped because I got all twisted thinking lace shawls weren’t “useful”. Right … what WAS I thinking?! And now I’m really keen on knitting more lace again, and this pattern looks yumm-ee! Though I’m not sure about knitting from another Zauberball … Maybe, but I didn’t like the yarn much for socks. I like my socks knitted from indestructible sock yarn, not fragile felted yarn …

Joanie. It’s a sweater, and I’ve *never* (at least not successfully) knit myself a sweater! I knit socks, and I knit lace shawls, and I knit the occasional baby item or weird thing but not sweaters for adults. But this pattern calls out to me! Now the only question is whether there’s a realistic chance I’d finish it this winter … It’d be queued item #3, and I don’t even have yarn for it yet! But I think I want me a Joanie :-D

A sturdy pair of mittens. I needz them. Just like this Pudelmuetze.

I actually like the Lady Lovelace cardigan thingy. Minus that weird separate shawl collar.. I’ve never knit a sweater for myself either, maybe we could do a “first sweaters in 2011″ knit along?

And I agree, Zauberball is lovely yarn, but not for socks, I prefer mine to be as indestructible as possible because I HATE darning!

It just came in the *perfect* colourway for socks, sigh. But now I know better!

And yes on the knitalong ;-)

I love the concept of that sweater, but I wish the collar came in closer to the neck when buttoned up. As it is, even in the nicely styled model shots I think it looks like either the designer failed to measure the model’s neck, or the knitter somehow stopped knitting too early.

I can see what you mean! But then I don’t like turtleneck or otherwise tight-necked sweaters, I prefer wearing scarves, but I like that it’s a one-piece sweater, and I like the general shape.
